Creating Positive Work Environments for Young Adults
September 26, 2024 10:30 AM 11:30 AM
Explore the new frontier of positive youth development (PYD), a powerful strategy for workforce development practitioners and employers to attract, retain, and empower young workers for success in their careers. PYD practices aim to leverage the strength of young workers, foster positive relationships, and create opportunities for them to belong and contribute meaningfully in the workplace. In this session, you’ll discover employer practices grounded in PYD research that can support the success of young adult workers. Additionally, you’ll learn about effective approaches to engaging both employers and young adults in driving changes in workplace policies and practices. This session will draw on key findings from three positive youth development case studies and the experiences of workforce practitioners in Chicago, Birmingham, and Seattle Generation Work™️ partnerships. Practitioners will share their own perspectives on successful practices, employer engagement strategies, and key lessons learned, while also inviting the audience to join the conversation.
