Growing Meaningful Careers in the Trades: A Once in a Generation Opportunity

Careers in construction can lead to economic mobility for individuals and families and demand for workers is high. The Portland Metro region is trying new approaches to connect women and people of color to jobs in this industry. Attend this session to learn more about the collective impact model “Community Construction Training Program” and how public owners are funding outreach, pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship retention to diversify their projects and exceeding utilization goals for diverse apprentices. This presentation will highlight some of the goals reached for the Portland Public Library renovations as well as the North Columbia Water Treatment Facility.
