Sparking the Next Michigan Boom: Unleashing Federal Investments for Shared Prosperity

Detroit Regional Partnership and partners were awarded a $52 million advanced mobility grant through the Build Back Better Regional Challenge. This session will spotlight a recipient, Detroit Future City, and illustrate how their partnership with the University of Michigan’s Employment Equity Learning & Action Collaborative is closing gaps between employers and historically excluded communities. In a city that put the country on wheels and where nearly half of Black children live in poverty, Detroiters need middle-wage and family-sustaining jobs. You’ll hear about Detroit’s vision and work, how we are centering worker voices, and the equity approaches we are prioritizing to bolster economic development for historically excluded communities.
