Beyond Job Quality Frameworks: A Community-centered Approach to Defining Job Quality from Hawai’i

Numerous job quality frameworks guide our field, but they can lack specificity to the unique contexts of local communities. Discover how our regional workforce collaborative aims to redefine job quality through the lens of local values and community voice. We’ll share insights from the “A Good Job in Hawai’i Framework,” developed through ‘talk story sessions’ across six geographic communities in the state of Hawai’i. This initiative revealed the deep connection between job satisfaction and the ability to contribute to family and community well-being, challenging prevailing job narratives. Attendees will learn methods to engage communities in defining job quality and strategies for aligning workforce programs with local values and needs.
